Sarah Broghammer

Sarah (she/her) recently completed her Master in Education Policy and Analysis at the Harvard Graduation School of Education at Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she focused on the intersections of education policy, international development, and climate change. Across these fields, she noticed a recurring gap between data and policy decisions, which sparked a broader interest in why that gap exists and how it can be closed. During her time at Harvard, Sarah served as a student ambassador for the Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability on the community building team. She also supported the IDEAS Social Innovation Challenge as a graduate assistant for the PKG Center for Social Impact at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, drawn to social impact work grounded in community partnerships.

Sarah grew up in southern Minnesota and attended the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University, majoring in English and communication. She was a 2022–2023 Fulbright English Teaching Assistant to Norway and then worked in the office of admission at her alma mater, where she developed a strong interest in postsecondary pathways and workforce development.

In Chattanooga, she looks forward to hiking in the surrounding mountains, exploring the bluegrass music scene, and trying the local coffee shops.

Initial Fellowship Focus: The fellow will establish practices and communication tools that make Chattanooga’s budget process transparent, predictable, and clearly connected to resident outcomes, giving the public a better understanding of where their tax dollars go and what they make possible.
