Marin Furuyama

Marin Furuyama recently earned a Master in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School, concentrating in social and urban policy. At HKS, Marin discovered her passion for local government, serving as a Bloomberg Harvard Summer Fellow with the city of Seattle and as a graduate intern with the city of Cambridge, Massachusetts. She also explored how policy and technology can expand economic opportunity, writing her thesis on digital equity, serving as a course assistant for courses on digital implementation and tech for good, and organizing HKS’s first AI Policy Symposium.

Before HKS, Marin was employed as a digital product manager at Citibank, working on digital transformation initiatives. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University in public policy and business, entrepreneurship, and organizations. Marin is originally from Osaka, Japan and Northville, Michigan.

Initial Fellowship Focus: The fellow will facilitate the development of a strategic plan for the new Economic Development Corporation and help launch collaborative initiatives that demonstrate early wins for inclusive economic growth in Dearborn. This work is intended to help establish a model for sustained cross-sector collaboration that supports business development, job creation, and economic opportunity for residents.
