City-Focused Case Workshop
for Students

Friday, December 3rd, 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Harvard Kennedy School Campus

Join the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative and the Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Collaboratory for a city-focused case workshop on Friday, December 3rd.

RSVP by 9:00 AM on Wednesday, December 1st

The Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative has developed a teaching case as part of the negotiation curricular portfolio, featuring Mayor Levar Stoney of Richmond, Virginia. This case focuses on how positional bargaining prevents creative deal-making when negotiators fail to understand the interests of other parties. By exploring Stoney’s relationship with city council, the case emphasizes the downsides of positional bargaining and the opportunities for better outcomes with an interest-based approach to negotiation.

The case will be taught by one of the case authors, Monica Giannone, Director of the Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Collaboratory at the Center for Public Leadership.

The case workshop will run on Friday, December 3rd, from 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM on the HKS Campus. RSVP via this form by 9:00 AM on Wednesday, December 1st. If the number of registrants exceeds capacity, we will select participants based on order of registration. The workshop location will be emailed to participants in advance.

The case materials will be emailed to participants on Wednesday, December 1st. Preparation for the case discussion should take one hour.

Dinner will be provided in to-go boxes after the event.
