Angelo Paolo Kalaw

Research Fellow

Angelo is working closely with Jorrit de Jong, Amy Edmonson, and Jan Rivkin on different research projects about equitable economic development, joint problem-solving, and cross-sector collaboration. Angelo is co-leading the City Leader Guide on Equitable Economic Development, which aims to help mayors and senior leaders translate their commitment to economic equity, inclusive growth, and racial justice into practice, especially in light of COVID-19. He is also exploring joint problem-solving and cross-boundary collaboration in New York cities dealing with problem properties and disinvestment.

Prior to Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, Angelo worked at the Central Bank of the Philippines as a speechwriter and economist, and at the Department of Finance as a portfolio officer for bilateral development cooperation. He also worked for HKS SLATE to develop and deliver executive education courses in policy design, innovation, and scaling.  

Angelo grew up in Manila, Philippines. He holds a BS in Economics from the University of the Philippines-Diliman and a Master's in Public Administration/International Development from the Harvard Kennedy School.
