Andrew Pekosz, Professor of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Josh Sharfstein, Vice Dean for Public Health Practice and Community Engagement and Professor of the Practice, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and Crystal Watson, Senior Associate and Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, discussed the Delta variant, the science behind it, and the policy implications on mask mandates, employee vaccine mandates, school openings, how to work with the private sector, and other related issues that mayors are facing. Jorrit de Jong, Faculty Director of the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative and Senior Lecturer in Public Policy and Management at Harvard Kennedy School, moderated the session.
