Senior Director, Administration and Finance, Bloomberg Center for Cities
Neel leads the team responsible for developing and maintaining administrative systems, processes, and operations to support the success of colleagues and enable organizational excellence.
Neel has more than 15 years of experience in the public, private, and non-profit sectors focusing on cross-functional, systems-wide organizational change and effectiveness. Previously, Neel served as Senior Director of Administration and Operations in Harvard’s Office for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging. He led the establishment of the office, including strategic planning, recruiting staff, and developing the infrastructure needed to support the University’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer and Harvard’s data-based approach to advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Neel also worked in Harvard’s Office of Financial Strategy and Planning, where he focused on special projects such as endowment management policy, multi-year financial planning, and strategic financial management. Prior to his time at Harvard, Neel served as a Chief of Staff in the Massachusetts Senate, managing a legislative office and serving as senior policy and political advisor with a focus on housing, environmental, healthcare, anti-poverty, and government transparency issues.
A native of Brookline, Massachusetts, Neel holds a BA in economics from Boston University and a Master’s in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Neel lives in Wayland, Massachusetts with his wife, Natalie, and dogs, Harlow and Finley.
